Heber MacMahon, MD

Dr. MacMahon, Professor of Radiology, earned his MD from University College, Dublin National University of Ireland. His area of focus was diagnostic radiology. He is an internationally recognized expert in chest radiology and an authority in the field of research in chest radiography, including evaluation of image quality, development of CAD schemes, and the clinical use of enhanced radiography.  He was awarded an R01 grant from the NCI for temporal difference imaging in chest radiography.

Dr. MacMahon has served as Director of the Section of Chest Radiology at The University of Chicago since 1979, and he served as the Interim Co-Chairman of the Department of Radiology from 2000-2002.  Dr. MacMahon is one of only about 100 members of the prestigious Fleischner Society for Thoracic Imaging and Diagnosis, a society to which members must be elected by their peers.  He is the author or co-author of more than 100 publications.
