The University of Chicago is consistently ranked among the top ten cancer programs in the country, and is led by a cadre of researchers who have made groundbreaking contributions to the study of the genetic and immunological processes that lead to cancer. The University of Chicago Cancer Research Center is designated a Clinical Cancer Center by the National Cancer Institute. As such, we conduct basic science research, research on populations of people at risk for cancer, and research with patients with cancer. Specifically, we conduct many clinical trials using novel agents to treat and prevent cancer.
