What drives UCCRC professionals is to enable patients to survive cancer or avoid it all together. Our members pursue new approaches to cancer prevention and diagnosis and strive to provide the most compassionate, safest and least invasive cancer care possible. Laboratory and clinical researchers work collaboratively to increase our understanding of the biology of cancer and bring the benefits these innovations to the bedside.
They also recognize the importance of helping patients understand their conditions, treatment options, and available resources both in the community and at the University of Chicago. Patient awareness and understanding are key elements to any treatment regimen. This is especially true for cancer. Through empathetic, candid and comprehensive counseling, the UCCRC tries to eliminate cancer’s mysteries and enable patients to be full participants in the battle against their malignancies.
